Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actress and singer whose acting variety earned her acclaim across a range of genres ranging from period drama to thriller and action adventure. Johansson was born in New York City, and lived there with her father who was an architect and her mother, a producer. Hunter was twins with the younger sibling. At a very young age she discovered a love for performing and started making commercial auditions around the age of seven. In her early years she appeared in Sophistry alongside Ethan Hawke and made her movie debut at Rob Reiner's North in 1994. Johansson was later seen as a character in Just Cause, but she made her debut with Manny & Lo, a film about siblings left behind by their parents who flee. Next, she received critical praise for portraying an teen girl who been injured and resulted in her being disfigured in The Horse Whisperer (1998). The film gained her more acclaim for her performance in Ghost World (2002) as the cynical outcast Rebecca.
